How does telecommunications limit traffic?

Many people think that after the arrival of 5G, 4G will withdraw from the historical stage. In fact, even after it is officially commercialized, it will take a long time to lay the network architecture, build base stations and promote marketing. Therefore, there is still a long time for 4G to retire.

Today, China Telecom issued a notice about adjusting the telecom exclusive package, announcing that it will stop selling limited and speed-limited exclusive packages nationwide. The unlimited traffic package that is still in use will change the traffic outside the package from speed limit to charge. This also means that the unlimited package launched by Telecom for more than two years has officially become history.

For us who have turned smart phones into a part of our lives, the flow card is nothing new. In recent years, the Prime Minister has repeatedly called on the Internet to "reduce fees and speed up".

Unlimited traffic package, as its name implies, is a mobile phone card with unlimited traffic. The launch of the card is a good thing, but since its launch, the package has been "misunderstood" by consumers and considered as a traffic trap and marketing gimmick of operators. The core issue is the "volume reduction" cancelled by telecom this time.

The so-called traffic slowdown is the monthly traffic limit set by the operator for the unlimited traffic card (that is, the slowdown threshold). After exceeding the limit, the network speed will be limited to a fairly low level. This situation exists not only in the unlimited traffic packages of the three major operators, but also in the traffic cards launched by Internet companies.

To tell the truth, the marketing rhetoric of "unlimited traffic" really attracts users' attention, but users will have quite a few problems when using it, so it has been controversial since its birth. Subsequently, the "unlimited traffic card" was identified as false advertising and false marketing by the Industrial and Commercial Bureau, and the three major businesses basically no longer mentioned "unlimited traffic".

Subsequently, on June 7, 20 18, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a meeting, demanding that the three major operators immediately conduct self-inspection, standardize and promote unlimited packages, and not exaggerate publicity, and prominently mark restrictive terms. For the restrictive conditions and validity period of the tariff plan and other matters that need users' attention, they must fulfill the obligation of reminding, and must not unilaterally exaggerate or confuse the preferential margin to ensure that users clearly understand the consumption.
