The Origin of Dingding Road in Luoyang, Henan, China

There is a road called Dingding Road outside the west gate of Luoyang City, and there is a magnificent temple called Zhougong Temple on the east side of Dingding South Road. The main existing ancient building in the temple is the Dingding Hall, which was named after the meaning of "When he became a king, he settled on Mangshan Mountain (the name of Luoyang in the early Western Zhou Dynasty)".

According to historical records, Dayu divided the world into Kyushu after water control, and then collected the copper from all over the world to cast Jiuding as a symbol of Kyushu and regarded it as a national treasure. After the Shang Dynasty destroyed Xia Hou, Jiuding moved to Shangdu Chao Ge (now Qixian County, Henan Province). At the end of Shang Dynasty, Zhou Wang was dissolute, and Zhou Wuwang sent troops to attack and destroy the business. After the demise of Shang Dynasty, the first thing Zhou Wuwang did was to transport Jiuding to Haojiang (now southwest of Xi), the capital of Zhou Dynasty. Who knows that these nine cauldrons are all like small iron mountains, which are difficult to move and transport. King Wu organized a large number of troops. It is said that it took 998 1 10,000 people to get to Luoyang in a few months. When they are ready to continue to pull to the west, no matter what method is used, the cauldron stands there like a root. King Wu sighed and said, "Jiuding is the treasure of the town. There must be a reason why they didn't go west when they got to Luoyang. The capital of Xia Dynasty is Luoyang, which is in the middle of the world. Does God want me to move the capital to Luoyang? If so, put Jiuding in Luoyang! " Unexpectedly, just as King Wu was preparing to hold a ceremony to place Jiuding, he died unfortunately. Zhou Wuwang's son Zhou Chengwang succeeded to the throne. With Zhou Gongdan's advice and help, he built a magnificent hall in the ancestral hall, chose an auspicious day, called together officials and governors from all directions, and held a grand ceremony of tinting, which showed that the Zhou Dynasty had completed the great cause of destroying commerce and achieved the world. Later, in memory of Zhou Gongdan, people built the magnificent Duke of Zhou Temple. The main hall in the temple is called Dingding Hall, and the road in front of the temple is named Dingding Road.

In the long history of China's 5,000-year civilization, Luoyang has long been the center of China's politics, economy, culture and transportation, so Ding and Luoyang have forged an indissoluble bond. There are also a series of stories related to Ding in the history books, such as Ding Duo, Ding Duo and Wang Qian Ding, which further extended the idiom of "keeping three legs with one word".
