When we were very young, the old people taught us not to take off our shoes, cross our legs, whistle, cry, spit, climb the stove and so on.

Every stove is equipped with a kitchen god, also called the main kitchen god. There is a pair on the kitchen wall: "God does good; Protect homeland security. Now people think that if you don't need a kitchen stove, there won't be a kitchen god to observe it. It doesn't matter if you can indulge, but a family always has to make a fire to cook, which is electrification. When we got to the fire, we behaved ourselves, and the atmosphere dared not say anything! In fact, in a family, there are not only kitchen gods, but also door gods, land gods and well gods.

The Book of Rites also said that there are ghosts and gods watching people's every move in every corner of the house, and people should not bully the darkroom! ?

To be honest, many sacredness are subtly displayed by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in order to show mercy to all beings. It is intended to warn people to wake up as soon as possible, stop evil and cultivate good, and avoid bad karma. As long as we put aside selfish distractions and sincerely serve all beings, success will naturally happen and luck will naturally improve, because of the blessing of the Buddha and the protection of the Dragon God. If you use your intelligence and climbing to do things, you will get the reward of your career!

So when we think that there are gods watching us around us, how dare we indulge our body and mind and have an evil thought casually? Nowadays, people think that these are superstitions and have lost their awe, so it is really sad and regrettable to dare to put down their body and mind and create all kinds of bad karma.

First, the origin of sending the kitchen god

Every year, the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month (December) is the Christmas anniversary of Jain Bodhisattvas. According to the traditional custom in China, it is called off-year (some people regard the 24th as off-year).

It is a folk custom to send the kitchen god in the New Year and welcome him on New Year's Eve. I made it after dinner.

New Year's Eve is a temple tradition. Sacrifices are made to the Bodhisattva (the kitchen god of the temple), which is held before breakfast or lunch.

Trace with the sky. Should be sacrificed in the morning. The so-called "eat early in the morning" is also. Today's agreement is an afternoon sacrifice. It doesn't matter. Recently came to the monk's workshop. Sacrifice at night. This is ghost food. Absolutely impossible. Accidental sacrifice. God is not enjoyed. It's no use spending money

Second, the significance of folk sending and receiving kitchen gods

Off-year, it is a day when people worship the stove to sweep the dust. It's called house cleaning in the north and dust removal in the south. Ordinary people clean the dust and clean the house. We Buddhists should sweep away the invisible dust troubles and make our hearts clean.

Dust, when in Rome, do as the Romans do, is Chen's homonym, which refers to all the unlucky things in the past.

Sacrificing a stove to sweep the dust means sweeping away all the dust at home before the first month of the lunar calendar, which means getting rid of all the bad things in the past and welcoming a beautiful new year.

Therefore, on the off-year day, people will clean houses, prepare sacrifices and worship the kitchen god. It is said that the Kitchen God will go to heaven on this day and report all kinds of good and evil to the Jade Emperor. The Jade Emperor will reward good and punish evil according to the report of Kitchen God.

There must be things like honey and sugar cakes in the sacrifice, which is the custom in some places. It is said that the kitchen god will talk sweet words, and only speak good words before the jade emperor, not bad words. The so-called: Heaven speaks well, and descent speaks auspicious.

Of course, this is just people's beautiful yearning. God is upright and observant. Kitchen God can't lie, and Jade Emperor can't be ignorant. Although they have the power to reward good and punish evil, they have no ability to change the cause and effect of good and evil.

Good and evil, good and evil are all caused by people's own thoughts, words and deeds. As long as you follow the teachings of the Buddha and stop doing evil and good, you will be blessed from afar and you will get happiness from suffering. This is a natural law, and the Jade Emperor Kitchen God is no exception.

Therefore, worshipping the three treasures and chanting the holy name mantra is the best blessing! In particular, disciples who have converted to Sambo can't believe in ghosts and gods on Sunday, otherwise they will lose three conversions.

A layman can respect God, ancestors, pagans, etc. But he should know that respect is different from conversion, respect is politeness, and conversion is the whole-hearted belief, trust, dependence and investment in the three treasures.

According to Shun Zheng Lun, the gods dare not ask for the Five Commandments or Buddhist rites, for fear of damaging their merits and longevity. All the gods dare not be worshipped by the Five Commandments, for fear of damaging their merits and longevity. )

Third, the significance of temples supporting bodhisattvas.

Every day, the temple provides a bodhisattva who guards the monks to eat, but during the off-year period, the offerings are more abundant and there are grand ceremonies.

There is a proverb in the temple: taste three iron bars first, and make nine bronze hammers privately. It means that if you steal food that you didn't give to the Buddha, you will be fined three iron bars; If you cook food privately once, you will be punished with nine bronze hammers. The Bodhisattva who is in charge of fasting is recorded in the book and punished according to the crime when karma comes.

In the early years, the temple offered sacrifices to the Bodhisattva, one in memory of the Bodhisattva becoming a monk and the other in order to learn from Gude, be an ascetic cook and serve the public.

The best place to exercise in the temple is the kitchen. Ci Shou, a Zen master in the Tang Dynasty, said in Children's Songs: incense accumulates in the kitchen, with good intentions, and dragons sing in the jungle. Although it is hard to look at the stars and the moon, we must believe that the deep fruit is also deep.

Cooking in the jungle is hard, but it is the most rewarding and rewarding. In the history of Buddhism in China, many eminent monks realized Taoism in their daily work, such as sweeping the floor, chopping wood, boiling water, cooking and so on. Therefore, there is a saying in Buddhism: Since ancient times, Daliao has been the founder.

Finally, the new year is coming, and monks, laymen and people all over the world should sum up and correct their shortcomings in the past year. In the new year, they should be more diligent in keeping precepts, doing good deeds and repairing blessings, chanting holy names, chanting spells and cultivating wisdom, in order to feel the protection of the three treasures, achieve their wishes and be responsive!
