Xinjiang was originally inhabited by Uighurs, Kazakhs and other ethnic minorities, all of whom have their own languages.

Later, in the Qing Dynasty, there were (probably) troops stationed here, so there was a farming area in northern Xinjiang, which was dominated by Han people.

Later, some ethnic minorities (such as Chinese-speaking Hui people) moved in from Qinghai, Ningxia, Gansu, Shaanxi and other nearby provinces and lived here for generations. At the same time, it brought its own dialect, so the dialect of Xinjiang (Chinese species) is also the dialect of Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia and Shaanxi.

Sometimes the dialects used in towns and villages close to each other are different.
