The deepest drilling on earth is Kola ultra-deep well in Russia, located in Krasnoyarsk region in the Russian Arctic Circle.

This drilling started from 1970 and continued until 1992. The drilling depth is12262m (40230ft), which is one of the deepest drilling in human history.

In the process of drilling, scientists hope to explore the physical and geological structure inside the earth, as well as the history and evolution of the earth. However, due to extreme high temperature and pressure, the use of drilling equipment becomes difficult, so scientists can only obtain a small amount of geological data.
