1. In fact, "relief valve" is just a general term, and its official name should be "bypass valve". In the turbocharger system of automobile, there are two kinds of safety valves, namely intake valve and exhaust valve, mainly because turbocharger is divided into intake pressure shell and exhaust pressure shell. The function of the former is to discharge the excess air in the intake pipe when the throttle valve is closed, so as to prevent the backward air from colliding with the high-speed rotating intake blade, causing damage to the intake blade;

The function of the latter is mainly to protect the safety of the turbocharger and the engine itself, because the turbocharger is driven by the exhaust gas from the engine, and its high temperature, high pressure and high speed make it in a very harsh working environment. Excessive temperature and pressure will cause irreversible damage to turbocharger and engine;
3. Among them, over-temperature will damage the supercharger blades with the rotating speed exceeding 65438+ million rpm, and the oil will evaporate excessively at high temperature, which will reduce the lubricating ability of the blade shaft center and the shaft sleeve (bearing). Overpressure will make the thrust bearing supporting the fixed blade axis and shaft sleeve (bearing) too high, and some turbocharger thrust bearings may be deformed or broken. At the same time, the supercharge value exceeding the normal range will also cause serious engine knock, which is usually the main cause of engine damage;
4. Ordinary turbocharger is equipped with a relatively simple cylindrical exhaust pressure reducing valve. A spring with a preset pressure is installed in the cylinder, and the spring is connected with the bypass valve at the exhaust port of the turbocharger through a connecting rod. When the exhaust pressure reaches the upper limit, the spring will be completely compressed and the valve will open accordingly, thus achieving the purpose of controlling the pressurization value. This relatively simple exhaust pressure relief valve is called actuator, which can also be called internal exhaust pressure relief valve. The main disadvantage is that it is too close to the exhaust pressure shell of supercharger, and high temperature will affect the stability of control pressure, and the cylindrical shell made of thin galvanized sheet is also easy to corrode or damage.
