Difference between double-acting cylinder and single-acting cylinder
Double-acting cylinders: In contrast, double-acting cylinders provide greater complexity. Different from single-acting cylinder, it can transmit hydraulic fluid or output force in telescopic direction. Ports are located at both ends of the cylinder, allowing the piston rod to move back and forth. This movement is caused by the alternation of ports. One end receives pressure, generates thrust and carries out push-pull movement. Double-acting cylinder is the most commonly used type of cylinder in the market, because it has compressibility and extensibility and does not need external power supply, so it can meet the needs of larger industrial systems. The main design difference between the two cylinders is the number of ports. Single-acting cylinders have one compressed air port, while double-acting cylinders use two ports for operation.
