Revealing the traditional customs of China, why do you want to eat jiaozi on the solstice in winter?
"1 October1day, when the winter solstice comes, every family eats jiaozi." It is said that this custom was left to commemorate the "medical sage" Zhang Zhongjing who gave up medicine in the winter solstice. Zhang Zhongjing, a native of Yan Gedong, South Han, was a magistrate in Changsha, visiting doctors and practicing medicine in the lobby.
He quit his job and came home. When he saw that the villagers on both sides of the Baihe River were hungry and cold, many people's ears were frozen, so he asked his disciples to set up a medical shed and a cauldron to treat frostbite. Later generations learned to package food like Joule, which is also called "jiaozi" or "flat food". Up to now, there is still a folk song, "jiaozi bowls run amok in winter solstice, and nobody cares about frozen ears".
Another winter solstice eating custom is to eat wonton, because Pangu, one of the ancestors of the Chinese nation, was born in chaos to commemorate the birth of his ancestor Pangu.
