What is the principle and purpose of rodless cylinder?

Rodless cylinder refers to the cylinder that directly or indirectly connects the external actuator with the piston and makes it follow the piston to realize reciprocating motion. The biggest advantage of this kind of cylinder is to save installation space, and it can be divided into magnetic couple rodless cylinder (magnetic cylinder) and mechanical rodless cylinder.

Principle of rodless cylinder:

The working principle of rodless cylinder is the same as that of ordinary cylinder, but the external connection and sealing form are different.

Both sides of the cylinder are hollow, and the permanent magnet in the piston rod drives another magnet (moving part) outside the piston rod, which requires high cleanliness. Magnetic coupling rodless cylinder often needs to be disassembled and cleaned with gasoline, which is related to its working environment. Includes automatic selection of rodless cylinders.

There is a piston in the rodless cylinder, but there is no piston rod. The piston is installed in the guide rail, and the external load is connected to the piston, and the action depends on air intake.

The magnetic coupling motion is realized by using the permanent magnet in the hollow piston rod to drive another magnet outside the piston rod to move. Because the inner and outer magnetic rings are easy to separate at high speed and high load, they are not widely used, so it is necessary to find the characteristic curves of their mass and speed. So the mechanical type is used more.

The piston drives the moving body outside the cylinder body to move synchronously through magnetic force. Its working principle is to install a group of high magnetic permanent magnet rings on the piston, and the magnetic lines interact with another group of magnetic rings sleeved outside through the thin-walled cylinder. Because the two groups of magnetic rings have opposite magnetism, they have strong attraction. When the piston is pushed by the air pressure in the cylinder, the magnetic ring sleeve outside the cylinder is driven to move together under the action of magnetic force. The thrust of the cylinder piston must adapt to the attraction of the magnetic ring.

The purpose of rodless cylinder:

Used as the actuator of pneumatic system. It can be used for opening and closing doors of automobiles, subways, numerical control machine tools, moving and positioning coordinates of manipulators, conveying parts of centerless grinders, feeding devices of combined machine tools, automatic wire feeding, cloth cutting, electrostatic painting, etc.
