Spring Festival in Taizhou

The Spring Festival is the oldest, most festive, warmest and most desirable traditional festival in China. During the Spring Festival, tourists from afar return to their hometown and parents, and the father who goes out to work brings back a year's hard-earned money to reunite with his wife and children. Compared with foreign festivals, even with ordinary festivals in China, the Spring Festival highlights a family and embodies a feeling. Home is the harbor for all family members, and love is the bond that keeps family members together.

In addition to this deep feeling, the Spring Festival also represents joy and good luck. From firecrackers and Xie Nian to dragon and lion dances to celebrate the Spring Festival, everyone's face is filled with happy smiles, and the whole of China is immersed in the peaceful atmosphere of the festival. Because of tradition, it has the influence of traditional culture.

There is a saying that three miles is different from the wind and ten miles is different from the customs. Although Taizhou is a small place, there are many Spring Festival customs all over the country. What are the folk customs and folkways of Taizhou people during the Spring Festival? As a Taizhou person, I can't help but know.

Spring Festival is the most solemn festival in the New Year custom, commonly known as "Chinese New Year". The algorithm of the Spring Festival is from the first day of the first month to the eighth day. This is what Zhangjiadu folks say, "You can drink clear soup over eight years old".

Every year, the Spring Festival comes with firecrackers. 1On the evening of February 30th (Lunar New Year's Eve), people get together and sit "on guard". As time goes by, the doors of every household are wide open, and countless firecrackers and fireworks explode at the same time, commonly known as "firing." In the old days, the "open-door cannon" was used to kill the evil spirits of mandrills, but in modern times, its superstitious views are very weak, just representing the meaning of "New Year".

"Setting off firecrackers, taking over heaven and earth and making morning tea" are three things at the beginning of the new year. When connecting heaven and earth, put three plates of tea, fruit and rice on the Eight Immortals table, set the incense burner, light incense and light candles. Even heaven and earth, also known as even New Year, means to wish the old year and the new year and good luck.

On the first day of the first month, everyone puts on new clothes and shoes, but generally they don't go far. They just asked about their neighbors and congratulated each other on a few auspicious words. Some play together, and some go to the temple to worship Buddha, wishing peace for one year and making a fortune in all seasons.

Eating a good breakfast on the first day of the new year means that if you eat well on the first day of the new year, you will eat well in the future. Generally eat pork steamed bread, and some also make "glutinous rice balls" to show reunion.

On the first day of junior high school, there were still many taboos in the past: no sweeping the floor, no pouring water on the ground, no knife, no needlework, no work, no business, no swearing, no debt collection, no fighting, and even on this usual day of hatred, we must live in harmony. But in modern times, the taboo of not sweeping the floor, not falling into the water, not moving knives, not working and not doing business has been gradually broken.

From the second day of the first month, the younger generation took New Year gifts, visited relatives and friends, and worshipped their elders, commonly known as "Happy New Year". Children go out to worship their grandparents, uncles, aunts and other relatives; The son-in-law pays homage to Wang Yue's parents and elders and gives them lucky money, which is called "lucky money".

In order to receive New Year's greetings, the older generation of every household should prepare longan, brown sugar and other tea bubbles at home. When the New Year visitors come, they should serve tea first, including longan, litchi and red dates. However, New Year's greeting guests generally don't eat "tea bubble", that is, they don't eat longan and litchi in tea, but only drink a few mouthfuls of green tea, up to three mouthfuls, commonly known as "tea bubble". However, modern times pay attention to hygiene and get rid of old habits. Usually all the tea is finished. After tea, please eat fried rice, sugar, oranges, peanuts and other sweets, and then eat dessert-"topping noodles". There is a wine and meat table for lunch or dinner.

The eighth day of the first month, commonly known as "Shangba", is also the day when Zhangjiadu "opens the market". Every household should cook rice for breakfast on the eighth day of the eighth lunar month, which is called "Shangba rice". After the eighth day, folk New Year greetings will come to an end. However, the activities of the first month officially ended after the fourteenth day of the first month, because people "played lanterns" and "received the God of Wealth" for fourteen nights before the God of Wealth came to an end.
