What are the types of plant specimens?

Plant specimens preserve the shape and color of plants for further observation and research, which is one of the powerful means to solve the problem of botanical teaching AIDS. A few plant specimens are also valuable for collection. There are five types of plant specimens: wax leaf specimens, soaking specimens, air-dried specimens, sand-dried specimens and vein specimens.

2. Impregnated specimens are often used for teaching, scientific research, exhibition and other purposes. There are many formulas of color protection solution, but the selected formula only has good color protection effect on green, and the color protection effect on other colors is unstable.

3. Air-dried specimens are collected plants, placed in a well-ventilated place to air-dry materials, and then pasted or stored in specimen bottles, specimen bags or specimen boxes.

4. The dried sand specimen refers to the specimen that can keep the original living state after the whole plant or part of the plant is buried in the sand after collection, and can be used for long-term preservation.

5. Vein specimens are specially collected plant leaves. After mesophyll removal, they are rinsed by alkali erosion or water immersion, bleached, dyed and dried.

After the plant specimen is made, a label should be attached to the lower right corner of the surface paper, indicating the number, family name, scientific name, Chinese name, common name, place of origin, collection date and collector.
