How to grow garlic seedlings safely in rural areas in winter?

Garlic has a long growth period and needs to go through a long period of low temperature, rain and snow. There are a lot of garlic seedlings on the land every year. Due to poor management before winter, a large number of garlic seedlings have yellow leaves and stem tips, which leads to a serious decline in yield. How can we ensure the safety of garlic in winter? Before entering winter, we must pay attention to the following two points:

First, pour in wintering water.

Irrigation of garlic with overwintering water has the following effects

(1) Promote root growth: Garlic has a shallow root system. Before winter, watering garlic once in the plots with little rainfall and poor soil moisture can not only alleviate the drastic change of ground temperature, but also grow roots and strengthen seedlings, prevent freezing injury and help garlic survive the winter safely.

(2) Promoting seedling growth: irrigation before winter combined with appropriate topdressing, under the condition of plastic film mulching, the soil moisture is sufficient, which avoids the lack of water and fertilizer in early spring, is beneficial to the early growth of seedling garlic, postpones watering in spring, and avoids the influence of lowering ground temperature on normal growth due to premature watering.

(3) Reduce the occurrence of garlic maggots: garlic maggots are the most serious underground pests in spring and autumn, and the combination of irrigation before winter and water application of pesticides can greatly reduce the harm of garlic maggots.

(4) Watering method: The watering time of garlic in winter should be appropriate, neither too early nor too late. Irrigation in winter is generally carried out when the local average daily ground temperature is 5℃, 3℃ during the day and 0℃ at night. Generally, about 40 cubic meters of water is poured per mu, which can be combined with watering. Applying 5 ~ 7 kg urea per mu can promote the growth of seedlings and improve the stress resistance of garlic, which is conducive to obtaining high quality and high yield in the coming year.

Second, spray disease prevention.

Garlic has a long growth period, many diseases and serious harm. In order to prevent the occurrence of diseases, pesticides can be sprayed once before winter, which can not only quickly supplement the nutrients needed for growth, but also improve the photosynthesis of leaves, increase the chlorophyll content in leaves, make leaves greener and thicker, promote the growth of garlic roots and make seedlings stronger.

Usage: When the daytime temperature is ≥ 10℃, spray the medicine in the morning with no wind and plenty of sunshine. 25 ~ 30ml of 40% tebuconazole suspension +0.0 1% brassinolide aqueous solution1kloc-0/2ml+80 ~150g of 99% potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 30kg of water are evenly sprayed per mu.
