Adjustment method of throttle position sensor of Toyota Camry car

Toyota CAMRY2.0L3S-FE automobile engine adopts sliding switch throttle position sensor (TPS). According to the type of transmission used, it can be divided into 4-pin (automatic transmission A/T)TPS and 3-pin (manual transmission M/T)TPS. In Toyota series, except ignition timing (cam, crankshaft position sensor), TPS can be adjusted. Whether this adjustment is accurate or not will affect the performance and stability of the car. Next, introduce 4-pin TPS (Figure 1) and 3-pin TPS (Figure 2). 4-pin TPS: each pin of VC is a 5V reference voltage output by ECU; VTA is the throttle opening output voltage signal, which is distributed to ECU and automatic transmission electronic controller together with the engine load state signal; IDL is the contact signal of idle switch, which is distributed to ECU and electronic controller of automatic transmission; E 1 is the grounding terminal.

3-pin TPS needle: PSW is a full-load contact and provides full-load signal to ECU; ; IDL is the contact signal of idle switch; E 1 is the grounding terminal.

TPS changes the position of the contact in the sensor and the resistance of the variable resistor according to the throttle opening, and then changes the working voltage, which is fed back to ECU as a signal to increase or decrease the pulse width of basic fuel injection.

When TPS is driving at high speed or under heavy load, VTA (or PSW) outputs 3.5V (or 0.0 1V) voltage to ECU, thus increasing additional fuel injection. When the automobile brakes at high speed or relaxes the accelerator, it outputs 0.6V (or 5V) voltage to ECU to reduce fuel injection and fuel consumption. When the speed drops to 1200r/min, the fuel injection under normal load will be resumed.

The basic adjustment method of TPS: firstly, clean up the oil stain and carbon deposit in the throttle body, and after determining that the throttle is in the closed (fully closed) position, place a gauge with a thickness of 0.5mm between the throttle adjusting bolt and the throttle rocker arm, loosen the lock nut, measure IDL and E 1 with the resistance range of a multimeter (R× 1), and rotate the adjusting bolt. When the multimeter shows on, turn it on. Before adjustment, the fault self-diagnosis system must be checked, and the fault code cannot be output.
