What are the eight solar terms?
Eight solar terms reflect seasonal changes, namely: beginning of spring solar terms, vernal equinox solar terms, long summer solar terms, summer solar terms, beginning of autumn solar terms, autumn equinox solar terms, beginning of winter solar terms and winter solar terms.
These eight solar terms all have season-related words, and it is clear which season they belong to. Four of them have a vertical character, which stands for the beginning, which means the beginning of the four seasons respectively.
The other four solar terms have two hyphens, and the two hyphens mean equal division, that is, the world is equally divided day and night, indicating the limit. If it is the summer solstice, the duration of a day is particularly long. On the contrary, if it is the winter solstice, then the night in a year is particularly long, that is to say, the day is the shortest and the night is the longest.
