Knowledge about water temperature warning lamp

The water temperature indicator lamp is used to display the temperature of the coolant in the vehicle engine, and the color is mainly yellow. Some models without water thermometer (such as Great Wall compact car series) will display the coolant temperature with the color of indicator light: blue indicates that the water temperature is too low, extinguishing indicates that the water temperature is normal, and red indicates that the water temperature is too high. What the engine is most afraid of is the lack of oil and water, and the engine water temperature is too high, which is also commonly known as "boiling". After the coolant boils, it will leak from the pressure relief valve of the water tank cover of the auxiliary water tank. If you don't pay attention to the water thermometer, it may lead to the decrease of coolant and water shortage, which will affect the cooling system. Severe water shortage will lead to excessive engine body temperature, even aggravate abnormal engine wear, shorten the service life of the engine, and seriously lock the cylinder or bearing bush. The lighting of water temperature alarm lamp is equivalent to the risk factor of oil alarm.

Therefore, when the water temperature indicator gives an alarm, we should pay enough attention to it. Find a safe place to stop and check the cooling system, check whether there is water shortage and whether the water pipe leaks, and wait for rescue if necessary.

The water temperature indicator lights up. Treatment method:

1. The optimum water temperature when the car is driving is about 90 degrees.

If it is overheated, it may boil, which is commonly known as "boiling". It is not advisable to continue driving after the water temperature warning light on the dashboard lights up. You can stop and check the cooling system of the car. If it's not a big problem, wait until the water temperature drops before driving to the maintenance station for inspection and maintenance.

2. The water temperature warning light is on. When the water temperature is too high, you should slow down and stop first.

Then drive to the side of the road and don't turn off the engine in a hurry, because too high water temperature will make the temperature of piston, steel wall, cylinder and crankshaft too high, and the oil will become thinner and lose its lubrication effect. If the flame is turned off at this time, all parts are in an expanding state, and the gap between parts is very small, which will cause some soft metals to fall off after parking, and some even cause cylinder sticking. So don't turn off the fire immediately after boiling, temporarily keep idling and try to cool down.

3. Don't pour cold water on the engine during cooling, which may cause the engine block to burst due to sudden cooling.

The correct way is to put on gloves, put a folded wet cloth on the water tank cover, gently unscrew a small crack in the water tank cover, and then add cold water or antifreeze after the water vapor is slowly discharged and the water tank pressure drops.
