In terms of cost, the material cost of plastic intake manifold and aluminum intake manifold is basically the same, and the plastic intake manifold is molded once, with high qualification rate; However, the casting yield of aluminum intake manifold blank is low and the processing cost is relatively high, so the production cost of plastic intake manifold can be reduced by 20%-35% compared with aluminum intake manifold. 1) High temperature resistance: the plastic intake manifold is directly connected with the engine cylinder head, and the temperature of the engine cylinder head can reach 130 ~ 150℃. Therefore, it is required that the plastic intake manifold material can withstand the high temperature of 180℃.

2) High strength: When the plastic manifold is installed on the engine, it will bear the vibration load of the automobile engine, the inertia load of the throttle valve and sensor, the fluctuating load of the intake pressure, etc. Moreover, it should be ensured that the engine will not be blown up by high-pressure pulsating pressure when it is abnormally backfired.

4) Chemical stability: The plastic intake manifold is in direct contact with gasoline and antifreeze coolant when working. Gasoline is a strong solvent, and ethylene glycol in cooling liquid will also affect the properties of plastics. Therefore, the chemical stability of plastic intake manifold materials is very high and needs strict testing.

5) Thermal aging stability; The automobile engine works in very bad ambient temperature, and the working temperature changes back and forth between 30~ 130℃. Plastic materials must ensure the long-term reliability of the manifold.
