Is the Spring Festival in spring or winter?

Whether the Spring Festival is in spring or winter is not certain, it depends on the specific year. The date of the Spring Festival is fixed on the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar every year, and the solar term in beginning of spring is around February 4th every year. Beginning of spring solar terms represent the formal establishment of spring, even after beginning of spring, it will enter spring. According to the cycle principle of the calendar, beginning of spring will be on New Year's Eve 19 every year, so whether the Spring Festival is in winter or spring depends on the year.

The latest place where spring comes is Mohe City, Heilongjiang Province, the northernmost part of China, and it won't start until late May.
