What is the meaning of Xiaguan wind in Dali?

"Scenery, flowers and snowy moon" are the four most famous landscapes in Dali: Xiaguanfeng, Shangguanhua, Cangshan Snow and Erhai Moon.

Xiaguanfeng

Xiaguan (place name) in Dali is a mountain pass, which is the main wind source between Canger and Err. The long wind period and strong wind force are rare in the world. The number of windy days in a year is more than 35 days, winter and spring are windy seasons, and summer and autumn are slightly less. The average wind speed in Shimonoseki is 4.2 meters per second, and the maximum wind speed reaches 10. Xiaguan wind is caused by its special terrain. Shimonoseki is located at the exit of a long valley between Cangshan Mountain and Ailao Mountain. Cangshan Mountain, which stretches for hundreds of miles, blocks the atmospheric circulation. The straight westerly airflow prevailing in winter and spring and the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal monsoon enter Shimonoseki through this valley, forming a strong westerly wind between winter and spring and a southwest wind at the turn of summer and autumn.

Xiaguan wind never stops all year round. Because the two mountains at the entrance are narrow and trough-shaped, the blowing wind will go up and down and sometimes turn around, causing some strange natural phenomena. For example, if a pedestrian goes against the wind, the hood should fall behind, but it will fall in front at Shimonoseki. It is often puzzling not to understand the special geographical situation at the entrance to Shimonoseki. Xiaguan wind brings grey sand, which is refreshing and plays an important role in regulating climate.

In this regard, there is a beautiful legend among the Bai people: a long time ago, a white fox on Cangshan turned into a beautiful woman and fell in love with a Bai scholar. One day, the scholar's husband found them, angrily picked up the inkstone and beat the scholar into Erhai Lake. In order to save her lover, White Fox went to the South China Sea to ask Guanyin Bodhisattva for help. Guanyin Bodhisattva gave her six bottles of wind, and when she left, she told her not to talk or shout on the road. However, the white fox, eager to save people, continued on his way. When he came to Tianqiao Bridge, he tripped and let out a loud cry of "Ouch". As a result, I ran six bottles of wind at once. From then on, there was a great deal of tension in Shimonoseki.

Shangguanhua

Shangguan (place name) is an open grassland with many flowers, which is called "Shangguan Flower". Dali has a mild and humid climate, which "ends in Liang Yu and ends in the heat", and is most suitable for the growth of flowers and trees. Therefore, loving flowers and flowers has become a living custom of the Bai people. Shangguanhua's name comes from the ancient Shangguan tree "Zhu Chaohua", which has a strange flower. Its flowers are as big as lotus, 12 petals, leap year 13 petals. Its fragrance is ten miles, and its fruit can be used as Zhu Chao. At that time, the chivalrous man also came to watch, but unfortunately only saw the trees, not the flowers. There is also a well-known legend about this flower: a kind woman was given a pearl in her mouth by a fairy during dystocia, and this strange flower tree grew because it accidentally fell on the pearl. When the flower tree grows up, it often attracts the harassment of corrupt officials. The people were miserable and cut down the flower tree with great pain. Since then, this mysterious Shangguan flower has become more and more fascinating and synonymous with exotic flowers and plants in Dali. In fact, there are many kinds of flowers in Dali that have attracted the attention of the whole world. There are as many as 40 varieties of camellias, and "every family has running water and every household has camellias" has long been a much-told story.

Cangshan snow

The majestic Cangshan Mountain runs through Dali, and the top of the mountain is covered with snow, so it is called "Cangshan Snow". Cangshan has a total of 19 peaks, each of which is over 3500m above sea level, and the highest Malong peak is 4122m above sea level. Because of the high altitude, the peak is extremely cold and covered with snow all year round, it is crystal clear and white in the sun, which is spectacular. Cangshan snow, which is not used after summer, is the most famous "romance". Legend has it that one year a plague prevailed at the foot of Cangshan Mountain. The two brothers and sisters used the learned spells to drive athel Loren to the top of the mountain and bury him in the snow to freeze to death. In order to prevent the plague from coming back to life, my sister became the snow god of Cangshan Yeti Peak during Yongzheng period. The magnificence of Dali's mountains and rivers cannot be separated from the snowy landscape of Cangshan Mountain. In the Ming Dynasty, Yang Sheng 'an said, "There is snow on the mountain and white clouds on the mountainside, which are wonderful and show their abilities." In the Yuan Dynasty, Huang Hua wrote on the tablet that "Jade Dragon hangs on the Guijing Platform, and snow flies in the middle of the mountain". Zhang Laiyi, an academician who sent the infinite monk back to Dali in the Ming Dynasty, once described it as "three generations of dark rock ancient Jewish snow and white petrochemical". The snow scene in Cangshan Mountain is very spectacular, comparable to that in Alps.

Erhaiyue

"Erhai Moon" is called "Golden Moon" by the Bai people, which evokes people's pursuit of a better life all the time. Legend has it that Princess Yuegong yearned for the world and came to Erhai Lake to marry fisherman Zongping. In order to help fishermen catch more fish, she put her precious mirror in the sea so that the fish can see clearly. Fishermen caught more fish and lived a well-fed life. The princess's precious mirror turned into a golden moon in the sea, shining from generation to generation. The romantic self maintains the rich emotions of the Bai people. An unpretentious folk song has been circulating since ancient times: the flowers in Shangguan, the wind in Xiaguan, and the wind in Xiaguan blowing the flowers in Shangguan; Cangshan snow, Erhai moon, Erhai moon shines on Cangshan snow. Erhai Lake has beautiful scenery. Every moonlit night, the water is as bright as the sky and the moonlight is like water, so it is called "Erhai Moon".
