(A) the origin and development of fan painting

Fan, formerly known as Feng, has a history of more than 3,000 years in China. At first, it was not used for enjoying the cool, but a ceremonial tool. With the alternation of the times, fans have gradually changed from symbols of status and rights to daily necessities and handicrafts that attract the wind and enjoy the cool.

Wang Xizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty was the first person to write on a fan, and the story that his book was sold by an old fan was widely circulated. The history of fan painting can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty. According to Zhang Yanyuan's "Famous Paintings of Past Dynasties", Ben "once painted mountains and rivers on a fan, which is known far and near".

From the modeling point of view, there are round fans (ten thousand fans) and folding fans.

During the Tang and Song Dynasties, round fans were widely popular. Especially in the Song Dynasty, with the vigorous development of landscape painting and flower-and-bird painting, fan painting also developed rapidly, and court painters in the Song Dynasty became more and more popular. "Book with" contains: "Every time there is a mystery about politics in Hui Zong, all the six palaces are imitated, even hundreds." Looking at the paintings in the Song Dynasty, we can see that a large number of round fan paintings still exist, many of which are from famous artists.

With the appearance of folding fans, the combination of painting and calligraphy became widely popular in the Ming Dynasty. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, due to the highly developed fan-making technology in the south of the Yangtze River, many exquisite fan paintings passed down from generation to generation appeared. Today, people can still enjoy the fan paintings of Chen Hongshou, Dong Qichang, Wu Changshuo and Feng Zikai, as well as those of Zeng Guofan, Zuo, Li Hongzhang and Huang Yanpei. In modern times, fan painting is still a common practice, and Zhang Daqian, Qi Baishi and Xu Beihong all have wonderful fan paintings handed down.

Calligraphy and painting fans are practical, scientific and artistic. From emperors, officials to ordinary people, they can have different levels of calligraphy and painting fans, which is one of the most widely appreciated works of art.

(2) The unique shape of fan painting is difficult to make.

The folding fan is fan-shaped, wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. This unique shape inspired the creative passion of painters and calligraphers. Painters and painters should consider arranging pictures in a specific space, thinking skillfully and expressing techniques. Therefore, the originality, random brushwork, limited and infinite have created many charming images and artistic conception.

Painters and painters need accurate layout and skillful techniques when creating, and a full-width sketch can often reflect the artist's artistic attainments and pen and ink interest in the natural modality, so fan-shaped painting and calligraphy occupies an indispensable and important position in the history of art.

Fan painting requires one-time completion, and you can't stop writing in the middle; Due to the limitation of scale, painting on a fan requires the painter to carefully design lines, ink colors and composition, and only when there is a fan in his chest can he put pen to paper; Moreover, the unevenness of the folding fan also increases the difficulty of ink dropping and coloring; Some materials, such as colored paper, gold letterhead, etc., have high requirements for ink dripping and color setting, which is often difficult for painters to master, and ordinary painters usually dare not try at will.

(3) Experience and feelings of fan painting.

At the beginning of my fan painting, I painted it on cut round lamps and fan-shaped rice paper. Still, it is very challenging. It is not easy to break the habit of square composition and write carefully on fan-shaped and round-lamp-shaped pictures. As for painting and writing on a real fan, it is necessary to overcome many difficulties such as uneven fan surface and great paper changes.

To tell the truth, fan painting is addictive. First of all, I drew a variety of mandarin fish combinations on it, two tails and three tails, four or five Vulpix, which are symmetrically scattered and engraved with auspicious poems, such as Double Happiness, Hail, Five Blessingg Liushun and so on. Strive to make the fun of playing in your hands more active and more cultural.

In painting, I have also tried freehand brushwork, semi-writing and meticulous painting. Besides mandarin fish, I also drew ducks, chickens and figures. In the future, I will strive to expand my painting content, learn from my predecessors, study the way of painting and calligraphy, and make the content and form of books and paintings better.
