The difference between raw rice paper and cooked rice paper

The biggest difference between cooked rice paper and raw rice paper is that there is a rubber alum coating on the surface.

Cooked rice paper has many bright reflections, called alum, while raw rice paper looks more like ordinary paper without bright reflections. Shengxuan has strong ink absorption. After inking, due to the different paper quality, the edge will show different effects. Cooked rice paper can be colored repeatedly without leaking alum, which seems to have waterproof effect. The thickness of raw rice paper and cooked rice paper is different. Cooked rice paper that can be colored many times is thinner than raw rice paper.

In terms of production, Shengxuan is rice paper produced according to normal papermaking procedures. Cooked propaganda is based on raw propaganda, and a layer of alum water is added. If the amount of alum water is small, the so-called half-cooked is derived.
