The origin of winter solstice

Due to the gap between the lunar calendar and the solar calendar, the winter solstice season in China is generally around12,21~ 23 every year, and the night of winter solstice is very long. During the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, twenty-four solar terms were used to guide the agricultural season, and the solar terms were mainly divided by the average time method, so that the date between the winter solstice and the next winter solstice was called Zhongqi, and then it was called Zhongqi.

In ancient times, people thought that the winter solstice was a natural transformation of Yin and Yang, and everyone should hold a ceremony to celebrate winter. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, it was in the East, and it was necessary to worship the heavens and ancestors.
