What does EFI on the engine mean?

EFI on the engine is the electronic fuel injection system.

It is a system that uses various sensors to detect various states of the engine, and through computer judgment and calculation, the engine can obtain appropriate concentration of combustible mixture under different working conditions. The electronically controlled fuel injection system detects the intake air of the engine through the air flow meter, manifold absolute pressure sensor or throttle position sensor, so that the engine can obtain the optimal combustible mixture concentration required for operation under this working condition.

Extended data:

The control objectives of EFI fuel injection system for gasoline injection include theoretical air-fuel ratio control and lean burn control. The injector used in EFI electronic control system is electromagnetic, and the on-off of the injector is controlled by ECU.

The ECU outputs control current to the fuel injector through electric pulse. When the electric pulse rises from zero, the fuel injector is turned on due to electrification; When the electric pulse falls back to zero, the fuel injector is turned off due to power failure. The ECU uses the duration of the control command signal to control the fuel injection amount of the fuel injector.
