Shandong custom composition fast, fast, fast, fast, fast, fast!

Throughout China, there are different provinces and different nationalities. The textbook doesn't say "a hundred miles of different winds, a thousand miles of different customs." Well, today, I will tell you about the solar terms and customs in my hometown of Shandong. Here, I will tell you about the customs of beginning of spring, summer solstice and beginning of autumn.

The custom of early spring is the most interesting. There is a custom of "biting the spring" or "tasting the spring" all over Shandong. In rural areas, many people think that eating raw radish in beginning of spring can eliminate the habit of staying up late and staying in bed in spring. In some rural areas in Linyi area, people are holding a raw radish in their hands on this day in beginning of spring. When the time comes for beginning of spring, people always bite the radish. It is said that whoever bites the radish at that moment in beginning of spring can stay young and live forever. But I think this is just a beautiful fantasy of people, because I have never heard of who is really immortal!

And "Pinchun" is similar to the "biting spring" just mentioned, but it is spring cakes and spring plates. This custom existed as early as the Southern and Northern Dynasties. In Du Fu's poems, "fine lettuce in spring vegetables" means "tasting spring". But now people have replaced spring cakes and plates with noodles and jiaozi.

In summer solstice, noodles are eaten all over Shandong, commonly known as water. Proverbs all say "Solstice Noodle in Winter and Solstice Noodle in Summer in jiaozi". However, in some places in Shandong, fresh wheat is cooked during the summer solstice.

On that day in beginning of autumn, children in southern Shandong competed to collect the leaves of catalpa bungeana or tung tree, cut them into various patterns, or put them on their temples or on their chests. After beginning of autumn, the weather is still very hot, but people in some places are afraid to take a bath in early autumn. They think it is unlucky for beginning of autumn to take a bath, which can lead to rash or diarrhea. But I don't know why, because I take a bath every day and never have a stomachache. Maybe it has something to do with a historical story.
