Fallen leaves, autumn surprises, where did it come from?
According to the website of ancient poetry, the phrase "Autumn leaves fall at dusk" comes from beginning of autumn written by Liu Yanshi in the Tang Dynasty. Beginning of autumn is a poem published by Liu Yanshi on April 25th, 1956/KLOC-0, which describes the sights and feelings of solar terms in beginning of autumn. Metaphor, personification, antithesis and other rhetorical devices are used in the poem to express awe and praise for autumn. The full text of this poem is as follows:
Shang Biao was surprised when he quit filariasis this morning. Clouds gather summer colors and autumn leaves move. Sooner or later, the fallen leaves will surprise the autumn. A glance at the end of autumn is very gentle.
