Because of the low temperature of cucumber planting in greenhouse in winter, most of cucumber seedlings are female flowers in the early stage, and there are few or no male flowers, which leads to low pollination rate. Therefore, artificial pollination of cucumber in greenhouse should be carried out in strict accordance with the requirements.

The artificial pollination time is usually 8 ~ 6 am. Select fully open male flowers, remove the petals to expose the stamens in the middle, then select pollinated female flowers and gently wipe the stamens on the stigma of female flowers so that the pollen of male flowers is scattered on the stigma of female flowers.

Be careful not to use too much force to avoid scratching the stigma, and also pay attention to leaving identification marks for pollination to avoid replanting or missing seeds. Generally, only three female flowers need to be selected for pollination per plant.

Pollinated female flowers and melon buttons should be strictly selected, in line with the characteristics of varieties, free from diseases, deformities and pollution, and the root melons should be drained as soon as possible. It is the best measure to improve cucumber pollination in greenhouse.
