When will fennel be planted?

Environmental requirements of fennel.

1, temperature. Bulb fennel likes cold climate and grows well under the condition of ten-day average temperature 10 ~ 22℃. The suitable temperature for seed germination is 20 ~ 25℃, and the suitable temperature for seed growth is 15 ~ 20℃. Not higher than 25℃ during the day and not lower than 10℃ at night. Too high or too low will affect growth and quality. The seedlings can tolerate low temperature of -4℃ and high temperature of 35℃. Seedlings can only pass vernalization at a low temperature of about 4℃.

2. Moisture. Bulb fennel has strict requirements on water in the whole growth and development process, especially in seedling stage and leaf sheath expansion stage, which requires high relative humidity of air and moist soil and is not suitable for drought.

3. Lighting. Bulb fennel is a long-day plant, which needs sufficient light during the whole growth process. Under the conditions of long sunshine and high temperature after vernalization, long sunshine can promote flower bud formation and flowering and fruiting. The requirement of light at seedling stage is not strict, and sufficient light is beneficial to the formation of strong seedlings.

4. nutrition. Corm fennel has low requirements on soil and can grow normally in the range of pH 5.4 ~ 7.0.
