How to clean the throttle of Land Rover Range Rover?

First of all, if there is a plastic heat shield on the engine, it needs to be removed first.

When the hood is removed, we can usually see the throttle. There are some air pipes around the throttle. We need to remove these pipes and remember their positions clearly.

After removing the air line on the throttle, we can remove the whole throttle. Trent's throttle is fixed on the engine block with four bolts, and we can quickly remove it with suitable tools.

The side of the throttle near the combustion chamber is generally dirty with black carbon deposits, which is the main part we want to clean.

Cleaning the throttle is mainly to remove carbon deposits on it. We can use special throttle washer fluid or cleaner. It should be noted here that the cleaning principle of this cleaning agent is to dissolve carbon deposit, and its composition is harmful to human body. It is best to wear gloves and masks when cleaning.

Spray the cleaner to the position with more carbon deposits on the throttle, and wait for about 5- 10 minutes to dissolve the carbon deposits. Using brushes can speed up the removal of carbon deposits.

When we see that the stain on the accelerator has completely dissolved, we can wipe the detergent inside the accelerator with a clean towel. The picture above shows the clean back of the throttle, with no traces of carbon deposition.

Install the clean throttle valve on the engine block in the original position? Then install all the air pipes to complete the whole process of cleaning the throttle. After all the hardware is installed, we need to initialize throttle.

Problems needing attention in cleaning

1. When cleaning the throttle, it is not necessary to disassemble it, but it is necessary to clean the sealed part of the air inlet. Idling motor can only be cleaned after disassembly. Nozzle borrowing and disassembly and cleaning have their own advantages and disadvantages. Generally speaking, the maintenance station suggests not to disassemble it to prevent other unnecessary waste, such as replacing the sealing ring or installing other gaskets after disassembly, or delaying the owner's time due to oil leakage during disassembly.

2. If there is too much sludge in the accelerator, it may cause poor engine acceleration and increase fuel consumption, which is a big trouble for the owner. What if the throttle is dirty? As long as you clean it, you can get it in the 4S shop quickly, but don't you go to the 4S shop every time? Actually, you don't have to. You can handle it yourself. Just don't forget to initialize.

3. When cleaning the throttle valve, first remove the intake throat, expose the throttle valve, remove the negative electrode of the battery, turn off the ignition switch, straighten the throttle plate, spray a small amount of "carburetor cleaner" into the throttle valve, and then carefully scrub it with a polyester rag or a high-spin "non-woven fabric". Deep in the throttle, you can hold the rag and scrub it carefully where your hands can't reach it.

4. After cleaning, initialize the throttle according to the disassembly procedure just now. After cleaning the throttle, it needs to be initialized, because the computer has a memory function when adjusting the throttle opening, because there was sludge blockage in the past. In order to ensure the air intake, the computer will automatically adjust the throttle opening to keep the air intake in a normal state.
