The source of Tomb-Sweeping Day:

Qingming was originally the name of a solar term, and later became a festival to worship ancestors, which was related to the Cold Food Festival.

According to legend, during the Spring and Autumn Period, Zhong Er, the son of the State of Jin, fought for the throne because of the death of his father Qin Xiangong. He was expelled from the state of Jin. Minister, many people, led by meson tui, followed Zhong Er into exile for 19 years, and their lives were very difficult. Once, when Zhong Er was eating wild vegetable soup, he felt very delicious. After wolfing down, he thought it was the smell of meat.

So he asked where the meat came from, and someone told him that meson pushed him to cut a piece of meat on his leg and gave it to him. Zhong Er burst into tears. Later, Zhong Er returned to China and ascended the throne, known as Jin Wengong in history.

After Jin Wengong ascended the throne, he gave it to his exiled ministers, but forgot to introduce mesons. But mesons can't push the right to live in seclusion in Mianshan. Jin Wengong personally invited meson push, meson push don't want to go down the mountain to be an official, just avoided. Jin Wengong ordered the release of Yamakaji, which meant that mesons were forced to be pushed down. As a result, Jiezitui and his old mother were found burned to death under a willow tree. And left his last words, "May my Lord always be clear."

Jin Wengong regretted it, and ordered that the day when meson was pushed to death was the Cold Food Festival, so no family could make a fire to eat cold food.

According to legend, when Jin Wengong went to pay homage to Jiexiu in the second year, the big willow sprouted, so it was named "Qingming Willow", and the day after the Cold Food Festival was named Tomb-Sweeping Day.

After thousands of years' inheritance, Tomb-Sweeping Day and Cold Food Festival are unified as Tomb-Sweeping Day, but they are endowed with more connotations. Ancestor worship and outing have become important activities. It is said that there is still the custom of Cold Food Festival in Jiexiu, Shanxi (where Mianshan is located).
