[Academic article] Share the expression methods of folds in ancient CG illustrations

Hello, everyone, I'm Perfect Jun.

The tutorial shared in this issue is a partial expression of the folds of ancient CG illustrations. Antique themes are becoming more and more popular in the field of illustration. More and more small white novices are learning and trying antique illustrations, but many friends don't know where to start, so this tutorial is mainly for novices to learn and share typical cases. Painting techniques are easy to learn and have wider applicability. There is nothing to say. Pick up the brush and study together!

1. Line drawing stage

The line draft should be fine and smooth, and the relationship between clothes and pleats should be accurate and clear.

2. Color expansion stage

If the outline of the line draft is closed, we can use the magic wand tool in PS to select the area outside the whole line draft, then reverse the selection, and then Tu Ping, pay attention to the layer relationship of different elements and colors.

3. Vertical painting stage

Start with the darkest area of cold red with low brightness. At this time, you need to subdivide each big fold into light and dark areas.

4. In-depth characterization

Gradually increase the extra color from the dark part to the bright part, so that the whole tone level is richer and the details are more sufficient. Note that the change of highlights can better reflect the texture of clothes and fabrics.

The following figure shows the arrangement of layer relations. Good layer relations are based on convenient modification and split representation.

5. I am sorting it out.

Step by step, go deep into the details, strengthen the color relationship (cold and warm changes), and finally find a suitable traditional fabric pattern material to cover the film, so that the texture of the clothes is more exquisite and realistic.

Schematic diagram of drawing process is as follows:
