Taining Temple in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province has a long history of 1000 years. The incense here has always been strong, and many historical legends and beautiful anecdotes have been preserved so far. Temple is a good tourist attraction with large scale and rich cultural connotation.

Tianning Temple in Changzhou was built in the period of Zhenguan and Yonghui in Tang Dynasty, that is, 627-655 AD.

In the early Ming Dynasty, Judy, the prince of Yan, ordered the reconstruction and replaced the brick carvings at the base of the stupa according to the original state of Liao Dynasty, thus expanding the scale of the temple.

Yao, a monk who helped ascend to the throne, retired from Qingshou Temple in Shuangta and moved to Tianning Temple. There used to be a courtyard in the northwest corner of Tianning Temple called Master Zong's home, where Yao lived.

In the tenth year of Xuande in Ming Dynasty (AD 1435), Tiannuojia was changed to Tianning Temple. In the tenth year of the Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1445), it was renamed Chengtan in Guangshan, and later returned to Tianning Temple.

Tianning Temple was renovated twice in the tenth year of Zhengde in Ming Dynasty (A.D. 15 15) and the third year of Jiajing (A.D. 1524), and the repaired Tianning Temple was large in scale. Tianning Temple was destroyed again in the late Ming Dynasty.

The top of the tower collapsed in the early Qing Dynasty, and Tianning Temple was rebuilt in the 21st year of Kangxi (AD 1682). The center of the temple is the Liao Dynasty stupa, in front of which are the mountain gate, the Buddhist temple and the East-West Attached Hall, and behind the pagoda are the three major Buddhist halls, the Buddhist altar and the East-West Attached Hall.

In the forty-seventh year of Qianlong (A.D. 1782), Tianning Temple was renovated again, and it was renamed as "Tianning Temple" in 2008 (A.D. 1435). The existing temples were rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty.

Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty visited the south six times, worshipped Buddha in Tianning Temple three times, and wrote the plaque of "Dragon City Elephant Religion" and the couplets with pillars in Daxiong Hall. Since the Tang Dynasty, monks from Japan, Korea and other countries have come to Tianning Temple to learn from the scriptures and seek dharma. "Dragon City Elephant Religion"-Qianlong Imperial Pen

The four characters "Dragon City Elephant Religion" on the zhaobi opposite the gate were written by Gan Long Liuxia Jiangnan when he came to Tianning Temple for the third time. "Dragon City" is another name for Changzhou, and "Elephantism" refers to Buddhism. When Buddha Sakyamuni ascended to heaven, his disciples carved Siddhartha Gautama on wood in order to remember the Buddha and spread Buddhism, and educated monks and kind men and women in the image of Buddha. Emperor Qianlong affirmed the strict laws and regulations of Tianning Temple, a famous Buddhist Zen Dojo in the southeast coast. The inscription contains the meaning of praise, praising Tianning Temple as the pure land of Changzhou.

Thousands of hands and eyes are all around Guanyin
