Growth cycle of towel gourd

Luffa is a delicious vegetable, and its growth process needs to go through several steps, such as germination stage, seedling stage, vine-pulling stage and fruiting stage. The whole process takes about 50 days, and it is relatively easy to grow loofah, and it can germinate in about two weeks, depending on the temperature. If the temperature is warmer, it can be advanced, and it takes about 65,438+00-65,438+02 days from flowering to harvest.

Suitable growth environment

Luffa is a short-day plant, which likes high temperature and humidity and is resistant to damp heat. 18 to 24 degrees Celsius is the most suitable temperature for growth. The requirements for soil are relatively high, and it should be rich in enough organic matter, with strong fertility and strong water retention. After entering the reproductive growth period, in order to ensure its yield and quality, it is necessary to ensure sufficient fertilizer and water.

Suitable planting time

When planting loofah in spring, we should pay attention to the temperature guarantee during the seedling raising period, usually after the temperature rises (from late March to April); Seedlings are usually sown in May in summer; In autumn, the temperature of the outside environment is gradually decreasing, so we should choose suitable varieties of loofah and plant them in September.

Construction of scaffolding for planting loofah in the open air

During the growth and production of loofah, it is of great significance to build a scaffolding correctly and reasonably to improve the quality and yield of loofah.

The main significance of constructing towel gourd trellis technology is to make the vines of towel gourd not overlap or overlap less, so as to increase its permeability and effective photosynthesis and obtain a favorable environment for melon body expansion.

Bamboo with a diameter of 5-8 cm or wooden stakes with a diameter of 10 cm can be selected to build the loofah shed. The height (length) of bamboo poles or sticks should be about 2.2 to 2.5 meters.

The bottom of the bamboo pile or wooden stake should be firmly inserted into the soil, and the recommended embedding length is not less than 40 to 50 cm. Auxiliary piles should be planted next to wooden stakes or bamboo, and the bottom, middle and upper parts should be fastened to each other to ensure certain weather resistance.

Fertilization characteristics

Once luffa enters the reproductive or vigorous growth period, the demand for fertilizer is relatively large. Its root system is developed and its regeneration ability is strong, but its ability to absorb and tolerate fertilizer is relatively weak because of its shallow soil layer.

Therefore, the soil is required to be loose, fertile and rich in organic matter. According to the calculation of agricultural experts, each output is 1 10,000 kg of loofah. It absorbs 2 to 2.7 kilograms of nitrogen from the soil; 0.8-0.9 kg of phosphorus pentoxide; 3.5 to 4 kilograms of potassium oxide.

The nitrogen uptake of Luffa increased linearly within one month after planting, and the peak nitrogen uptake was in the middle growth stage. The demand for phosphate fertilizer increased sharply at the fruiting stage, while the demand for nitrogen fertilizer decreased slightly.

In the early stage of melon-bearing, the weight gain of all organs of the whole plant was slow, and nutrients mainly flowed into roots and leaves, which also provided nutrients for the development of vines and differentiated flower buds.

According to the follow-up measurement, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium absorbed by Luffa accounted for about 50%, 47% and 48% of the total absorbed nutrients respectively. At the late stage of fruit-bearing, its growth rate slowed down and nutrient absorption decreased relatively, among which nitrogen fertilizer and potassium fertilizer decreased most obviously.
