How to clean Buick Sail engine, throttle and idle motor?

① It is recommended to find a professional to remove the throttle and idle motor, and hope to adopt it.

It is best not to clean the throttle immediately after parking, because the temperature in the cabin is high, which may burn your skin. It is suggested to stop for a while until the engine room temperature drops.

It is necessary to determine the position of the throttle valve before cleaning. The throttle valve is behind the air inlet, so it is not far to find the air filter. Every car will be in a different position. The throttle of some models will be covered by the engine cover plate, so it will be more intuitive to open the cover plate for inspection.

Here, in order to keep the car as clean and tidy as possible, many models will be equipped with hood. Most of the covers are plastic, and there are no buckles around them, so many friends dare not remove them hard. In fact, most of the cover plates are fixed by an expanding plastic screws, and we can easily remove them by pulling them vertically. But remember to pull hard vertically, diagonal pulling is easy to damage the screw.

Open the engine cover and you can clearly see the position of the throttle. To remove the throttle valve, you must first remove the hose connecting the air cleaner and the throttle valve. Both ends of the hose are fixed with circular iron hoops, and the iron hoops are fixed with screws. Loosen the screw to pull out the hose.

Here we suggest that, if possible, priority should be given to screwing the screw with a sleeve, because the screwdriver is easy to scratch the screw and the sleeve is relatively safer.

After the screw is loosened, hold one end of the hose with both hands and pull it back hard, and the hose will be removed. Some automobile hoses may not be easily disassembled or installed firmly, so they are not easy to disassemble. Don't pull them hard, it will easily damage the hose. You can try to twist them left and right at the same time, and then push back hard after the whole is loose.

When the hose is removed, the throttle valve can be seen. At this time, the periphery of the throttle is generally not dirty, but it is really dirty inside. If you want to see the situation inside, you need to unscrew the key door and turn on the power of the vehicle, but it won't stop. After another colleague stepped on the accelerator pedal, the accelerator opened. At this time, you can clearly see that there will be brown dirt inside the throttle.

As far as we know, in order to save trouble, some roadside repair shops and even some 4S shops will directly clean the accelerator with a cloth dipped in cleaning agent in this state. If our throttle is not dirty, this method is fine, but if the throttle is dirty, this cleaning is obviously not thorough enough, because the area that can be cleaned by hand is very limited.

Of course, don't spray it directly on the accelerator, which is a safety hazard. After starting the vehicle, the back pressure during oil collection may spray the sprayed liquid.

The correct process should be to completely remove the throttle for cleaning, there will be a plug next to the throttle, and the plug needs to be pulled out before removing the throttle. For vehicles that don't unplug often, the plug may be tight and difficult to unplug. At this time, we can pry around the plug with the help of a small screwdriver, and it will be easy to remove after the whole is loose.

After removing the plug, the next step is to remove the throttle. The throttle is generally fixed with four screws, the two screws at the top are easier to remove, and the screws at the bottom are awkward. We suggest that the following two screws which are difficult to remove should be removed first, so as to avoid the failure of the upper and lower screws when they are finally removed.

The square screw has been removed and is not fixed. It is difficult to remove the lower screw because of the shaking of the throttle. In our experience, it is more convenient to loosen the screws with tools and then remove them by hand, but be careful that the screws fall into the engine room.

After removing the four screws, you can remove the throttle, and the exposed pipeline is the air inlet. It is not difficult to see from the picture below that there is obviously a lot of black carbon deposition at the air intake of our demonstration car, but we will introduce its cleaning situation later. I would like to remind you that after removing the throttle, it is best to cover the entrance of the air intake with articles such as newspapers to prevent sundries from entering.

It is much more convenient to observe after taking off the throttle. When we turn to the back, we can see that there is still a lot of dirt inside the throttle, especially around the corner and the rotating shaft. It is difficult to clean it completely unless it is removed. Therefore, if you clean in a specialty store, you must let the staff remove it and clean it.

② Clean the throttle.

Next, we need to clean up, put on gloves, install the nozzle for cleaning spray, and aim at the inside of the throttle. At the beginning of the article, it is mentioned that this kind of cleaning agent is sold in the network or auto parts city, and the price ranges from ten yuan to dozens of yuan. We randomly selected a relatively common product at the price of 15 yuan. In order to see the cleaning effect, we spray it to the throttle side first.

With a light spray, the inside of the throttle valve will be much cleaner. It is recommended to face the trash can when cleaning, because the carbon deposit will liquefy and flow down at the same time, which is easy to pollute the environment. And the cleaning agent has a certain irritating smell and a certain corrosiveness, so it is best to wear a mask when operating and stay away from the nose, mouth and eyes.

After all spraying is in place, wipe it with cotton cloth. In order to wipe more thoroughly, we can take off our gloves and wipe the inside of the throttle directly with cotton cloth. Although the cleaning agent will be corrosive, it is no problem to contact it for a short time. We just need to wash our hands in time after cleaning.

It should be emphasized that the flap in the middle of the throttle should not be touched by hand as far as possible, because the flap itself is fragile and is a high-precision accessory, and it is easy to affect its opening manually, thus affecting the car condition. If it is really dirty, it must be washed by hand, gently and carefully.

After cleaning, you can check inside and outside, and you can install it without problems. The installation method of throttle valve is opposite to the disassembly sequence, but there are some experiences for reference.

③ Install the throttle.

The four screws that fix the throttle can be screwed by hand first, because the hand is sensitive, so it is not necessary to screw the screws directly with a sleeve, and then tighten them with a tool. Then plug in the plug, and the installation of the plug needs to be strengthened. After hearing a beep, it means it's fixed.

After installing the throttle valve, you can install the hose. There will be two small grooves on both sides of the hose, one large and one small, aiming at the raised marks on both sides respectively. Both ends of the hose should be completely covered. If the installation is difficult, you can twist it left and right.

After the concave and convex points at both ends are completely aligned, touch the bottom of the hose by hand to ensure that the lower part is completely nested, tighten the screws on the iron hoop and install the engine decorative cover plate, and the cleaning work is completely over.

On the matching problem

Many friends are worried about the matching problem after washing the throttle. In fact, after cleaning the throttle, there will be no other adverse reactions except the increase in idle speed, which is normal. Even if it is cleaned in a 4S shop, the idle speed will increase, but the increase rate is not as high as that of self-cleaning. But don't worry, all vehicles now have self-learning function. After cleaning, the idle speed will return to normal after driving for a period of time (about 50 kilometers), so don't worry too much.
