What does peach blossom symbolize?
Extended data:
In ancient society, people generally believed that there were ghosts and gods in the world. Therefore, during the Lunar New Year, every household in China hangs something called "Fu Tao" outside the gate to drive away ghosts.
There are two theories about the origin of peach trees in ancient legends. Some people say that peach trees are generated by the spread of Yu stars; Others say that the peach tree is Kuafu's walking stick. Legend has it that Kuafu became thirsty every day, so he drank the water from Weihe River, but the water from Weihe River was not enough to quench his thirst. Kuafu wanted to drink osawa from the north, but he died of thirst before he arrived in osawa. He abandoned his cane and turned it into a peach grove.
In ancient times, people painted statues of Shen Tu and Lei Yu on two mahogany boards during festivals, or simply wrote the names of Shen Tu and Lei Yu and hung them on both sides of the gate to keep their homes safe. This is "Fu Tao". Later, people wrote couplets on mahogany boards, which is the source of Spring Festival couplets.
