Growth conditions of maize:
1, requirements for soil and soil improvement
Corn does not require high soil conditions and can be planted on a variety of soils. The soil with deep soil layer, good structure, high fertility level, rich nutrition, loose ventilation, easy discharge of energy storage, near neutrality and coordination of water, fertilizer, gas and heat is suitable for planting.
2. Requirements for nutrients and fertilization
Corn has a short growth period and rapid growth and development, which requires more fertilizers, especially the absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
3. Corn water demand and irrigation drainage.
Corn needs more water, so it is necessary to control water properly at seedling stage and then meet the requirements of corn for water in order to obtain high yield.
4. Temperature requirements of corn
Corn is a thermophilic crop and sensitive to temperature. At present, the total accumulated temperature of maize varieties used in growth period is 1800-2800℃. Different growth stages require different temperatures.
5. The requirements of corn for light.
Corn is a short-day crop, which likes light and needs strong light throughout its growing period. Under the sunshine of 8- 12 hours after emergence, it develops quickly, blooms early and shortens the growth period, and vice versa.
