The fuel pressure regulating valve, also known as the fuel pressure regulator, refers to a device that regulates the fuel pressure entering the fuel injector according to the change of the vacuum degree of the intake manifold, so that the difference between the fuel pressure and the intake manifold pressure remains unchanged, and the fuel injection pressure remains constant under different throttle openings. When the oil pressure is higher than the standard value, the high-pressure fuel pushes the diaphragm upward, the ball valve opens, and the excess fuel flows back to the oil tank through the oil return pipe; When the pressure is lower than the standard value, the spring will compress the diaphragm, close the ball valve and stop oil return.

The function of the pressure regulator is to keep the pressure in the oil circuit constant. If the oil pressure is too low, the injector will inject too little or no oil; If the oil pressure is too high, it will damage the oil circuit or injector.

Because the fuel injection amount of the fuel injector depends not only on the fuel injection duration, but also on the fuel injection pressure. In the same injection duration, the greater the injection pressure, the more the injection quantity, and vice versa. Therefore, only by keeping the fuel injection pressure constant can the fuel injection amount only depend on the fuel injection duration or pulse width under various loads, so as to realize the accurate control of the fuel injection amount by the electronic control unit.
