What is Asia Pacific?

The Asia-Pacific region, called Asia and the Pacific region, is the general name of the surrounding areas of the Pacific region. There are several different understandings about the division of countries and regions of the concept of "Asia-Pacific".

The Asia-Pacific region usually refers to the Asian region on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean, such as East Asia and Southeast Asia, Oceania and the islands in the Pacific Ocean. In other words, it does not include North and South America on the east coast of the Pacific Ocean. This statement appears in a large number of publications in Europe and America, and is sometimes used in United Nations reports.

Generally including: Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Kiribati, North Korea, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia (Federated States of), Nauru, New Zealand, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Viet Nam and China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan).

Some multinational companies and organizations will regard Japan and Australia as separate business areas and do not belong to the Asia-Pacific region.
