Reed in Qilihai, a "land of geomantic omen"

Qilihai is low-lying, with perennial water accumulation and reeds everywhere. Reed land covers an area of 55,000 mu (48,000 mu in the West Sea and 7,000 mu in the East China Sea), with an annual output of more than 30 million kilograms. It is the largest reed producing area in Tianjin. Reed is a kind of densely clustered rhizome herb, which has special asexual reproduction ability, strong tillering ability and adaptability to the environment. It grows thickly and can ensure the harvest in drought and flood. The locals call it "hardcore crop". Reed has many functions, such as regulating climate, purifying water quality and raising wild animals. It is also a good raw material for papermaking and textile, and has high economic value.
