1. Collect target analysis samples. According to the special properties of samples, necessary pretreatment should be carried out before use, such as grinding and screening when sampling solid samples.

2. Put the collected samples into a thermal desorption sample tube, which is generally made of materials easy to thermally desorb, such as stainless steel or glass, and insert the sample tube directly into the GC-MS sample inlet.

3. By heating the sample tube, the volatile organic compounds are released from the sample, and the sample is pushed into the gas chromatography column at a certain gas flow rate, and selectively volatilized at a specific temperature and time according to the different thermal stability and polarity of the compounds.
