How to adjust the valve of motorcycle?

There are also many kinds of engines for three-wheeled motorcycles, and the valve adjustment methods are different, but they are all similar. Basically, first remove the cylinder head or valve cover, deflate the inspection hole on the magneto cover, turn the magneto with a socket wrench, and align the T-point notch on the magneto rotor with the inspection hole of the magneto cover, so that the piston is at the compression top dead center. At this time, gently shake the magneto, the valve rocker arm will not move, and the valve rocker arm is in a relaxed state, so that the valve can be adjusted. If there is no gap between the valves when the T point is marked, the rocker arm will move when the magneto rotor shakes slightly, which means it is not compression top dead center. It is necessary to rotate the magneto again and re-mark the T point. The valve rocker arm can only be adjusted in a relaxed state.

When adjusting the valve, first loosen the lock nut of the adjusting screw of the valve rocker arm, and then turn the adjusting screw to adjust the valve clearance to the specified value. Different engines have different standards. Please refer to the instruction manual or maintenance manual. If not, generally adjust the intake valve clearance to 0.05-0.08mm and the exhaust valve clearance to 0.07-0. 12mm. After adjustment, rotate the magneto several times and readjust the timing. After checking the valve clearance, you can install all the parts and start the engine for test run.
