Spring refers to the period from beginning of spring to the long summer, that is, January, February and March of the lunar calendar, including beginning of spring, rain, fright, vernal equinox, Qingming and Grain Rain. Summer refers to the period from Long Summer to beginning of autumn, that is, April, May and June of the lunar calendar, including Long Summer, Xiaoman, Mangzhong, Summer Solstice, Slight Summer and Great Summer. Autumn refers to the period from beginning of autumn to beginning of winter, that is, July, August and September of the lunar calendar, including six solar terms: beginning of autumn, Summer, Bailu, Equinox, Cold Dew and First Frost. Winter begins in beginning of winter of the lunar calendar and ends in beginning of spring of the following year, that is, October, November and December of the lunar calendar, including six solar terms: beginning of winter, light snow, heavy snow, winter solstice, slight cold and severe cold.
From vernal equinox to summer solstice to autumnal equinox, the northern hemisphere is in summer and the southern hemisphere is in winter. During this period, the northern hemisphere has long days and short nights, while the southern hemisphere has short days and long nights. The north pole is in the extreme day and the south pole is in the extreme night; The height of the sun north of the Tropic of Cancer is always greater than the average, while the height of the sun south of the Tropic of Cancer is less than the average. North of the Tropic of Cancer, the sun rises on the northeast horizon and sets on the northwest horizon. On the vernal equinox, the sun all over the world rises in the east and sets in the west.
