Millennium allusions
Millennium is the fifteenth solar term in the "twenty-four solar terms", which is the end of applying for the moon and the beginning of the unitary month in the calendar. "White Dew" is a festival that reflects the temperature changes in nature. Dew is a unique natural phenomenon after the solar term of "White Dew". The weather at this time, as the Book of Rites said: "The cool wind comes, the dew falls, and cicadas sing." According to the explanation of "white dew" in the twenty-four solar terms-"water and soil condense dew, autumn belongs to gold, golden white and white dew, and qi begins to be cold".
The ancients also said in Xiao Weijing: "The fifteenth day after the summer heat is white dew", and the yin is getting heavier and heavier, and the dew condenses into white. "In fact, meteorology shows that at this time of the solar term, the weather is getting cooler and cooler, and the sun is still very hot during the day. But as soon as the sun returns to the mountains, the temperature will drop rapidly, and the water vapor in the air will condense into tiny water droplets at night.
Very densely attached to the green stems and leaves or petals of flowers and trees, it is white, especially after being irradiated by the morning sun light, it looks more crystal clear and flawless, which is really attractive, thus gaining the reputation of "White Dew".
1, the origin of the Millennium
The Millennium basically ended the sweltering heat in summer, and the weather gradually turned cold, and the cold gave birth to dew condensation. The ancients used four seasons to match five elements. Autumn belongs to gold, gold and white alternate with each other, and autumn dew is described in white, hence the name "White Dew".
2. Meteorological changes in the Millennium
After entering the Millennium solar terms, the summer monsoon is gradually replaced by the winter monsoon, and the cold air gradually moves southward frequently. In addition, the position where the sun directly touches the ground moves south, and the sunshine time in the northern hemisphere becomes shorter and the sunshine intensity weakens. At night, it is often partly cloudy and sunny, and the ground radiation dissipates quickly, so the temperature drop is gradually accelerated. There is a saying called "Qiu Qiu in a thousand years, it is cold all night."
After the Millennium, the temperature difference between day and night gradually widened. Although the temperature is high at noon during the day, it is already very cold in the morning and at night.
According to the standard of "average weather temperature" proposed by modern scholar Zhang Baokun, the average weather temperature is 10-22℃ in spring or autumn. According to this standard, from the beginning of the Millennium solar term, all localities began to enter autumn one after another. At this time, the temperature difference between day and night in China can reach 8℃- 16℃, so the Millennium is a solar term with a large temperature difference in a year.
About the traditional customs of the Millennium
1, clear dew
China folks have the custom of "picking clean dew" in the Millennium solar terms. In Li Shizhen's Compendium of Materia Medica in the Ming Dynasty, it was recorded: "When the autumn dew is numerous, it is gathered on a plate and fried like rice, which makes people not hungry for many years." "The autumn dew on the head of a hundred herbs is collected when it is not embarrassing. The more sick you are, the thirst will be quenched, and people will be light and hungry. " The flower is exposed, which is a good color. Thus, dew-clearing has become the most special "ceremony" in the Millennium.
Step 2 drink Bailu tea
Bailu tea is tea picked in Bailu season. There is a folk saying that "spring tea is bitter, summer tea is astringent, tea is needed, and autumn dew". At this time, after the summer heat, the tea tree is just another growth period before and after the Millennium.
Bailu tea is neither as fresh and tender as spring tea nor as dry and bitter as summer tea. It has a little too much flavor, giving people just the right feeling. Take a sip gently, and your lips and teeth will remain fragrant and full of sweetness, which is deeply loved by old tea customers.
Step 3 sip rice wine
Xingning, Sandu and Liaojiang in Zixing, Hunan have always had the custom of making wine. Every year on the Millennium Festival, every family will make wine and drink "local wine" when receiving guests. Its wine takes glutinous rice, sorghum and other grains as raw materials, which is mild and sweet, and is called "Bailu rice wine".
4. Sacrifice Yu Wang
People living in Taihu Lake in Jiangsu Province will make sacrifices to Yu Wang in the Millennium. Yu Wang is the legendary hero of water control, Dayu. Fishermen on Taihu Lake call him "Waterway Bodhisattva". Every year, on the eighth day of the first month, Tomb-Sweeping Day, the seventh day of July, Bailuyuan Festival and the shore of Taihu Lake in Jiangsu Province will hold incense parties for Yu Wang, among which Tomb-Sweeping Day and Bailuyuan Spring and Autumn Festival are the largest and last for one week.
