Why is Fengdu called a ghost town?
The ghost town of Fengdu is also called "Tour Capital", "Ghost Country Kyoto" and "Hometown of Divine Comedy in China". Ghost towns are famous for their various buildings and shapes in the underworld. There are many buildings showing the underworld in Ghost Town, such as Huma Temple, Tian Zi Temple, Naihe Bridge, Huang Quan Road, Wangxiangtai and Wangyaotang.
Fengdu ghost town has a long history, many scenic spots and rich cultural connotations. Any old man on the street in Fengdu County will tell you some stories. Fengdu is located in the mountainous area of central Chongqing, near the Yangtze River. Fog often permeates between mountains, rivers and urban and rural areas, giving people a hazy feeling.
It comes from a legend. According to legend, in the Han Dynasty, there were two people named Yin Changsheng and Wang, who, in today's words, saw through the world of mortals, so they began to practice hard on the famous mountains in Fengdu County and later became immortals. Later, people passed it on by word of mouth, and slowly misinformed that Yin and Wang were "Wang Yin" and hades, and that's it.
After different dynasties, there are more and more statues related to ghosts and gods in Fengdu Mountain, and the ghost culture atmosphere is getting stronger and stronger, so that it was later called "ghost town".
As a result, in the Ming Dynasty, Fengdu was eventually renamed Du Feng. After the founding of New China, superstition was broken and Du Feng was renamed Fengdu.
