How should green onions be planted?

There are two kinds of green onions cultivated in China: long onion and short onion. Among them, the varieties cultivated in the north of the Yangtze River are mostly long onions, and those cultivated in the south of the Yangtze River are mostly short onions. Onions grow in a cool climate. Welsh onion seeds began to germinate at 4 ~ 5℃, and the optimum germination temperature was 13 ~ 20℃. The suitable temperature for seedling growth is 19 ~ 25℃, and it can tolerate the low temperature of-5℃.

The sowing date of green onions depends on the local climate conditions, and generally it needs to be sown in the frost-free period of less than 180 days, in the spring of more than 200 days, or in the spring of 180 ~ 200 days. See Table 4 for the sowing dates in major areas. The sowing amount of Chinese onion varies with the seasons, with spring sowing 1 1kg/ha and autumn sowing 15kg/ha. When sowing, the seeds should be washed with clear water to remove chaff seeds, then soaked in clear water for 24 hours, taken out and aired, and then evenly mixed with 10 times fine soil for sowing. After emergence, water should be properly controlled, seedlings should be interplanted in time and weeding should be strengthened. Generally, the spacing between seedlings is about 4 cm. When the thickness of the pseudostem is 0.6 ~ 1.0 cm and the height of the seedling is 20 ~ 25 cm, it can be planted.
