Is it cost-effective to sell wet wheat or dry wheat (what is the difference between buying dry wheat and wet wheat)

According to my local wheat purchase, the difference between selling on the same day and selling after drying is basically 30 cents, with an extra 50 cents. Except for the long-term fluctuation of storage price, the time after wheat harvest usually changes little. Generally, after harvesting, wheat is wet and has impurities, and it is folded into more after drying.

How to sell wheat in rural areas is cost-effective

There are "three or two kinds of crops" in my hometown of southwest Shandong. Wheat is usually harvested before the solar term every year.

The wheat harvest is just around the corner this year. Farmers have always had different views on whether it is more cost-effective to sell wheat directly after harvest or to dry it for a period of time before selling it. Today, I will also elaborate my personal views.

In recent years, after the wheat harvest in my family, it was basically bought by grain dealers on the same day or the next day, saving time, effort and trouble.

According to my local wheat purchase situation, the difference between selling on the same day and selling after airing for a period of time is basically 30 cents to 50 cents.

If the fluctuation of long-term storage price is excluded, it will not change much about one month after wheat harvest. Why do I advocate selling wheat on the same day after harvest? There are four reasons.

(1) Wheat is wet after harvesting and contains impurities. After drying, it is weighed as much.

Although wheat is harvested by harvester now, it should not be too dry when harvesting, otherwise the seeds will fall off easily. Therefore, the wheat is still wet after harvesting, and the harvested wheat also contains impurities such as wheat bran.

In the past practical experience, it has been proved that wheat will be folded in different degrees after drying and cleaning impurities.

For example, if the newly harvested 100 kg wheat is dried and cleaned, there may be about 95 kg left, so the weight of wheat before and after drying is different.

(2) Wheat is expensive to sell in the later stage, but the labor cost has increased.

If the newly harvested wheat weighs 100 kg, if you sell 1 yuan 1 minute per kg that day, you can sell 1 10 yuan.

Then, after drying, cleaning and weighing, 95 kg of wheat can almost be sold to 110 yuan, even if the price can rise to1yuan 0.5 cents per kg, and the total amount that can be sold remains unchanged.

The drying of wheat needs manual input, which invisibly increases the cost of wheat. It seems expensive, but it is not more profitable than selling it after harvest.

(3) It is difficult to find a field for drying wheat, and the process is tedious and tiring.

Farmers who have dried wheat should be very clear that wheat needs to be dried in an open and clean place.

There used to be fields in the countryside, but now it's hard to find them. You are not allowed to bask in wheat on the road. If there is too much wheat, it will be difficult to find a place to dry.

Secondly, drying needs to be transported back and forth, dumped, spread out, turned over, and then put away and bagged, or stored in a grain depot. This tedious process is also very tiring. Without young people at home, this kind of heavy manual work can't be done.

④ There are uncertain factors in drying and storage.

During the drying of wheat, it is also the time when the rainy season comes every year. As the saying goes in the countryside, "June is the day after tomorrow, and the stepmother will change her face."

It used to be sunny. Sometimes it rains when a cloud floats, which is also a common phenomenon of wheat drying. It rained before harvesting.

Sometimes there will be continuous rainy weather, so that wheat can not be dried. In this weather, or if the wheat is not dried and stored, it may lead to wheat deterioration and great losses in the later stage.

Based on the above factors, I personally think that there is little difference in the total amount of wheat sold after harvesting and after drying and storing for a period of time.

But it can save the trouble of dry storage in the later period, and also avoid the adverse effects of rainy weather and other factors on wheat quality in the later period. Whether the price of wheat will rise or fall in the later period can not be fully grasped.

Therefore, after wheat harvest, if you don't plan to store it for a long time, you might as well sell it immediately. There is no need to worry about whether the price of wheat will rise or fall in the later period. The money earned by going out to work a few days in advance is often much more than that earned by ordinary farmers due to changes in wheat prices.
