The best time for tea picking
Seasonal, spring picking is the most suitable. Because of abundant rain and mild temperature in spring, tea trees have accumulated rich nutrients in their roots after a winter dormancy period, so tea trees grow particularly vigorously in spring, with thick leaves, green colors, soft leaves and many fluff on the tender buds. Rich in amino acids, soluble pectin, vitamin C, aromatic oil and other effective components related to the formation of tea quality, not only makes tea taste mellow and delicious. Therefore, spring tea, especially early spring tea, is often the best quality and the most suitable period for tea picking in a year.
But as far as tea is concerned, such as black tea, it is best to pick it in summer. Due to the increase of tea polyphenols in tea trees in summer, it is beneficial to the fermentation of black tea, forming more tea red pigments and tea yellow pigments, making the dry tea and tea soup of black tea more red and bright in color and more exciting in taste.
Judging from the time of day, the best time to pick tea in a day is after 7 am and before 1 o'clock. If there are trees in the tea garden that can block out the sun, it can also be after 1 in the afternoon and before 4 pm.
Generally speaking, the time of picking tea leaves will be different because of the origin and variety of tea leaves. In most tea-growing areas of China, the seasonal division is obvious. Generally, the tea leaves picked and produced from March to May every year are called spring tea.
Generally, the tea collected in June-July is summer tea. Due to the high temperature in summer, it is beneficial to the synthesis and accumulation of tea polyphenols. Tea leaves are bitter and suitable for making finished black tea.
