What are the climatic characteristics of Taiyuan?
Taiyuan is hot and rainy in summer and cold and dry in winter. The average annual temperature is 9.5℃, the average frost-free period is 202 days, and the average annual precipitation is 456 mm. Taiyuan has complex terrain and great altitude difference, and the territory is influenced by the maritime climate, which belongs to the continental climate of the northern temperate zone.
Taiyuan has no severe cold in winter, no heat in summer, four distinct seasons, abundant sunshine, large temperature difference between day and night, concentrated rainfall in summer and autumn, and dry and windy in winter and spring. The annual average temperature is 9.5℃, 1 month -6.4℃ and July-23℃. The frost period is from mid-October of/kloc-0 to mid-April of the following year, and the average frost-free period is 149- 175 days. The average annual precipitation is 468.4 mm.
Geographical location and topography of Taiyuan;
Taiyuan is located in the middle of Shanxi Province, at the northern end of Taiyuan Basin, in the middle of the Yellow River Basin in North China, and at the intersection of Tongpu and Shitai railway lines. Geographical coordinates are11130' ~113 09' and 37 27' ~ 38 25' north latitude. The regional outline is bat-shaped, with the lateral distance from east to west of about 144 km and the longitudinal distance from north to south of about 107 km.
Taiyuan is surrounded by mountains in the west, north and east, and valley plains in the middle and south. The whole terrain is dustpan-shaped. The highest point is 2670 meters above sea level, the lowest point is 760 meters above sea level, and the average altitude is about 800 meters. The urban area is located on the plain of Fenhe River Valley at an altitude of 800 meters.
On the left is Taihang Mountain, on the right is Luliang Mountain, behind is Yundiezhou, in front is Taiyuan Plain, and Fenshui runs through the whole territory from north to south. Fenhe River, the second largest tributary of the Yellow River, runs through the whole territory of Taiyuan from north to south and flows through the territory for about 100 km. The urban area is blocked by Taihang Mountain in the east and Luliang Mountain in the west.
