How do Finns take a sauna?
The Finnish sauna is often referred to as the Finnish bath. The first step in a Finnish bath is to take a shower to clean yourself, and then enter the steam bath naked (all Finnish saunas, except for private saunas, have separate rooms for men and women). Square paper towels are usually available at the door (on the seats in the sauna), and towels, bathing suits and slippers should not be brought into the sauna. It is also best not to use strong-smelling beauty products in the sauna. It is customary to beat the whole body with a softened birch branch with leaves in order to make the blood run faster, the pores of the skin open as much as possible, and the sweat flow out of the body more smoothly. When sweating for a period of time, the second step is to come back to the shower to clean and cool the body, to be the heat dissipated and then back to the steam room patting, sweating, followed by back to the water to cool. Such is back and forth three times, the body of the dirt discharged, and then people will be fully relaxed, and finally thoroughly clean once again, the entire sauna is completed. Finnish bath After the sauna, Finns are used to eating a large meal, called the "sauna meal", mainly to replenish the salt lost through sweating. "The first course of the sauna meal is often pickled herring with hot potatoes, but anchovies, sardines, smoked fish or salted mushroom salad are also popular choices. The second course can be pancakes, lasagna or rice. Soups are mostly French onion soup or Russian borscht, and the alcohol of choice is malt beer, known in Finland as Sahti. To spice up the sauna, sausages can be grilled on the heater in the steam room, so you can relax and eat at the same time - both at the same time.
