Is China Martial Arts Really Powerful?
As a person who studies both martial arts and Sanda, I may tell you clearly that a lot of knowledge of modern fighting can be included in martial arts. Taekwondo legs can be found in northern schools, and the latter is more than the former. Boxing techniques are found in various boxing routines, and judo is found in wrestling and grasping. In particular, grasping includes not only grasping joints, but also grasping acupoints and meridians, which is the unique content of China Wushu.
Also, martial arts includes dozens of ways to use instruments, which are not found in other fighting, from machetes to palm thorns; Spear, dagger. Ordinary people such as benches and crutches have ways to use them, as well as soft weapons such as whips and rope darts. This is far beyond the skills such as Oriental Dao.
It can be said that Wushu is not only a skill, but also contains the advanced theory of balance between attack and defense and transformation of strength, and any kind of fighting skill is just a skill. Have you seen the Ke Yirou gang? You can refer to Jet Li's (Tai Zhang Chi Sanfeng). Jet Li's Huo Yuanjia is a classic example of beating foreigners, and the part about marksmanship is to beat Hercules to attack his weakness.
There are many fighting principles in Wushu, such as "one quick and ten slow" and "one strong and ten skillful". It is very easy for a person who has studied martial arts to learn Sanda again. It's not that martial arts are learning from fighting moves now (there may be a misunderstanding when looking at martial arts moves), but fighting moves are already included in martial arts. Of course, most people can't see this. In fact, a martial arts move can be changed into a certain move in fighting.
In addition, the spiritual realm of Wushu is incomparable with other fighting techniques. Although I have studied Taekwondo, I don't feel anything about "courtesy, justice and shame". Instead, I found a realm of life between the actions of martial arts (as quiet as a virgin, as moving as a rabbit): sometimes life is as fast as lightning, sometimes it is like watching, and it is like a silver bell ... These all contain the concept of educating people.
I admire martial arts very much, but I know that martial arts is indeed deteriorating and biased towards performance, because few people have studied martial arts in depth, and few people have persisted in martial arts for decades. People who have persisted for so many years may not be able to pay attention to other routines and it is difficult to direct martial arts. Similar to "the lack of a martial arts leader", the differences between martial arts families are getting bigger and bigger. Without confrontation, the martial arts families are getting worse and worse together. In this regard, we are all helpless.
I hope you can have some confidence in martial arts after reading these. Traditional Wushu needs the younger generation to carry forward and realize its revival. I also hope you can tell others my answer so that everyone can have a correct understanding of Wushu.
