Types of windows

Windows are an indispensable part of the building, which provide ventilation and lighting, shelter from wind and rain, and rely on windows. According to different building types and different geographical locations, the types of windows selected are also very different.

So, how many kinds of windows are there? The following small series has compiled almost the most complete window classification, so hurry up and collect it!

Classification by open way

1. Fixed window

The fixed window won't open. Generally, there is no window sash, and the window frame can only be embedded with glass. Sometimes, in order to produce the same facade effect as other windows, window sashes are also set, but they are fixed on the window frame. Fixed windows are only used for lighting and overlooking, and are usually used in situations where lighting is only considered and ventilation is not considered. Because the sash is fixed, the glass area can be slightly larger.

2. Sliding window

The advantage of sliding window is that it does not occupy indoor space, and large glass can increase indoor lighting. But the ventilation area is small (only half of the window). At present, aluminum alloy sliding window and plastic sliding window are widely used.

Lift the window

The sliding window is vertically opened up and down, which is actually a vertical sliding window. Under normal circumstances, whether it is a sliding window or a sliding window, the opening area will not exceed 1/2, and the opening mode is not as convenient as that of a casement window. However, in the special design of buildings, windows can add highlights.

4. Vertical hinged window

The casement window is a traditional window type, which has the widest application range and is divided into two types: internal opening and external opening. Windows are easy to clean after opening, but they will occupy indoor space after opening. If it is not made properly, it will penetrate inward in rainy days. The outward window sash has good waterproof performance and does not occupy indoor space when it is opened, but it is easy to be damaged when it is windy and rainy, which requires high strength of hardware. The biggest feature of casement window is good sealing performance, the sash can be fully opened, which is convenient for ventilation and simple in structure.

Shoot the window

Projection window is equivalent to hanging window, which is more suitable for kitchen and bathroom or small windows such as hotels and office buildings with central air conditioning, and sometimes used in conjunction with casement windows and sliding windows.

Step 6 hang the window

The hanging window can only open the seam of 10 cm, and the hand can't get in from the outside, which is especially suitable for use when there is no one at home. Hanging windows can be divided into inverted type and inverted type. At present, the inverted window is more popular, which is generally used as another way to open the casement window, so that the indoor and natural air can circulate naturally, make the indoor air fresh, and put an end to the possibility of rainwater entering the room.

The rain-proof effect of hanging windows outside is not as good as that inside, and the safety is not as good as that inside.

7. Middle suspended window

The middle suspended window has the largest opening area and is suitable for buildings that need ventilation in the region, such as factories, stadiums and other public places. There are both traditional styles and innovative technologies. The middle suspended window fittings have good economic performance, simple installation, natural and generous whole window, and are very fashionable and decorative. The attic at home is also very suitable for using suspended windows.

8. Vertical rotating window

The rotating shaft of the vertical rotating window is located in the middle of the upper and lower vertical plates, and the window sash can rotate vertically. This kind of window has good ventilation and rain-proof effect, and it is easy to scrub the window sash, but it is not used because of its complicated structure and poor rain-proof performance.

9.skylight

Windows set on the roof are called "skylights". Skylights can increase lighting, and movable skylights can enhance ventilation. According to different construction methods, skylights can be divided into convex skylights, concave skylights, flat skylights and zigzag skylights.

10. shutter

Shutter is a special window used to block the sun or the line of sight. It has fixed or movable shutters.

1 1. Screen window

The main function of screen window is "mosquito prevention". Now there are more kinds of screens than before, such as invisible screens and detachable screens, which are no longer as laborious as before.

PS: Aluminum alloy doors and windows are classified according to opening mode. At present, the more popular and practical window types in the market are sliding window and casement window. But the casement window is superior to the sliding window in performance. The sealing and safety of casement windows are better than that of sliding windows. Casement windows have become a major trend in the door and window market!

Classification by material

1. aluminum alloy window

Aluminum alloy window has the advantages of high strength, good air tightness, rust prevention, corrosion resistance, no need of paint and beautiful appearance. One of the most vulnerable weaknesses of aluminum alloy windows is thermal insulation performance, because metal is a good conductor of heat, and the external and indoor temperatures will be transferred with the window frame.

2. Plastic steel window

Plastic-steel window has good thermal insulation performance and relatively low price, which is the first choice for many people. However, the plastic steel window has poor water tightness and insufficient strength, and is easy to seep, age and deform.

3. Broken bridge aluminum window

Broken bridge aluminum, also known as thermal insulation broken bridge aluminum profile, has better thermal insulation than ordinary aluminum alloy profile and is the first choice for energy-saving doors and windows. Broken bridge aluminum has the advantages of light weight, high strength, good water and air tightness, good fire resistance, large lighting area, atmospheric corrosion resistance, long service life, good decorative effect and good environmental protection performance.

4. Plastic windows

The thermal insulation and air tightness of plastic windows are better than those of ordinary aluminum alloy doors and windows, and the price is relatively affordable. But plastic is too easy to age and deform, and its life is not long.

5. Solid web steel window

Before 1980s, steel doors and windows were widely used. Now we see cases of steel doors and windows in old buildings. Generally, this kind of doors and windows only install a single piece of glass, which is very unfavorable from the perspective of energy saving, so it has become the main object of energy-saving transformation of existing buildings.

6. Wooden windows

Wooden window is a common window form, which has the advantages of simple manufacture, convenient maintenance and good air tightness. It is a good appearance for people who like forest wind or rural wind. However, wood will expand and contract due to climate change, and sometimes it is inconvenient to switch on and off, which consumes wood; At the same time, wood is easy to be eaten by insects and decayed, which is not as durable as steel windows. At present, the use of urban housing has been very few.

7. Aluminum wooden window

Aluminum-wood window is also called aluminum-wood composite window (wood covered with aluminum). The structure of "inner wood and outer aluminum" has a double decorative effect. The essence is still broken bridge aluminum, which is only wrapped in solid wood on the basis of indoor facade broken bridge aluminum, which not only ensures the sealing and energy-saving performance of doors and windows, but also achieves the effect of appearance decoration.

8. Wooden aluminum window

Wood-aluminum window is just the opposite of aluminum-wood window, which is based on solid wood doors and windows and then wrapped with a layer of aluminum alloy, that is, aluminum-clad wood doors and windows. The essence of windows is solid wood. The advantages and disadvantages of solid wood windows will still be presented on wooden aluminum windows. Although the sealing performance of a layer of aluminum alloy is better than that of solid wood windows, it is much worse than that of aluminum wood doors and windows.

9. FRP doors and windows

Glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) is a new composite material developed abroad in the early 20th century. It has the advantages of light weight, high strength and corrosion resistance, but its heat insulation performance is limited.

10. reinforced fiber plastic doors and windows

On the surface, it is a plastic profile, but in fact, it only contains a plastic surface layer on the surface, and the inner layer is the kind of reinforced fiber material that has been used in the aviation field. Excellent thermal insulation performance is one of the few special doors and windows in passive house.

1 1. Aluminum-clad plastic profile doors and windows

From the outside, it is aluminum alloy style, but the inner core is polyester plastic, which has excellent thermal insulation performance. This is also one of the types of doors and windows that achieve passive room effect.

PS:

Passive house: Houses with sufficient renewable energy and total primary energy consumption not exceeding 1.20 kw/h(m2/ year). Such low energy consumption standards are achieved through high thermal insulation and sound insulation, strong sealing and renewable energy.
