Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics is a secondary discipline under Foreign Languages and Literature. The main research directions of this discipline involve translation theory and practice, second language acquisition theory, specialized English, linguistics (comparative linguistics, chapter teaching, pragmatics, sociolinguistics), computer-assisted language teaching and English and American literature. Based on the comprehensive, theoretical and application-oriented cultivation requirements, this discipline cultivates senior foreign language talents with strong language skills, solid theoretical foundation and systematic professional knowledge.

Direction of Translation Theory and Practice

The main purpose of this major is to study how to promote the theoretical construction of modern Chinese translation, how to improve and enhance the practical ability of translation, so as to enable the learners to have a certain degree of understanding of the theory of translation covered by translation, the method of translation and the history of translation, and to enable the learners to have the ability to adapt to the requirements of modern translation, and at the same time, lay a solid foundation for the theory of translation, so that the learners can be more familiar with translation practice, and can have a better understanding of translation theory and practice.
